Andrew James Myers, 72, of Pacific Grove died yesterday in a local hospital after a brief illness. A native of Gilroy, he was the grandson of John and Laura Partington who pioneered the Big Sur area in 1847. He was also the grandson of Andrew and Emma Myers who were Priest Valley pioneers in the 1850’s. Mr. Myers spent his early years on the Priest Valley ranch of his family, moving to Monterey when it was time to attend high school. In 1926 he married Mabel Schmidt in Turlock and the couple moved to Pacific Grove in 1930. He was the owner of Hudelson & Myers Inc., plumbing contractors, retiring from active business five years ago. A member of the First Baptist Church of Monterey since 1930, he served on the board of directors and also was president of the church building committee for the present structure. He is survived by his widow, Mabel of Pacific Grove; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Jacqueline) Jones; a son James and nine grandchildren, all of Pacific Grove. Friends may call at the Paul Mortuary until 9 p.m. tomorrow. Friends are invited to attend services at the First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Dean Koontz officiating. Services will be held jointly with services for John H. Myers, a grandson, who died Saturday of injuries received in a Monterey traffic accident. Private family services will be held at the El Carmelo Cemetery. Contributions are preferred to the First Baptist Church of Monterey, Monterey.
