Dan Potts

Daniel Joseph Potts, a businessman, died Friday at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was 43. Born Jan. 2, 1955, in Milwaukee, he had lived in Monterey County for 38 years. Mr. Potts graduated from Pacific Grove High School in 1973. For 15 years, he owned an operated Eurosport Import Repair in Salinas, a business that specialized in repairing Italian and exotic cars. In recent years, he provided mechanical support to two race teams that won Sports Car Club of America (SCCA championships. Mr. Potts was a member of the Salinas Area Modelers, a radio-controlled airplane club, as well as the SCCA-San Francisco Region. An avid Motorcyclist, he had recently planned on returning to racing. He also was working toward a pilot’s license. Mr. Potts is survived by his wife of 19 years, Marilyn; his mother, Barbara Potts of Pacific Grove; a sister, Sally Schmidt of Salinas; and a brother, Tom Potts of Reno, Nev. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Pacific Grove. The Paul Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to the SPCA of Monterey County, P.O. Box 5098, Monterey, 93942, or to the donor’s favorite charity.
