Richard died in Oroville on August 4, 2013, of a brain aneurysm, survived by his wife Shirley. Richard was a very talented artist. He made wonderful sculptures in wood porcelain and also clay as well as other mediums. He built a large brick kiln and would have pottery workshops on his property in Oroville Cal where people would camp for days to enjoy his talents. He also taught ceramics at Oroville community College. Richard would travel the world to learn old techniques in sculpting and glazing. He was also very generous in giving his works away to many he would meet. He was also willing to share his expertise with anyone.
